I'd love to read a revisionist "Alice in Wonderland" where the Madhatter was totally misunderstood and "sweet" Alice turns out to be a twisted vanity-monger.
HOW NOT TO HAVE TO DRY THE DISHES
by Shel Silverstein
If you have to dry the dishes
(Such an awful, boring chore)
If you have to dry he dishes
('Stead of going to the store)
If you have to dry the dishes
And you drop one on the floor-
Maybe they won't let you
Dry the dishes any more.
Caricatures of a few of my favorite historical Americans:George Washington, John Adams, Alexander Hamilton and Robert E. Lee.
I hope you get a chance to sit down and consider what a miraculous country we are privileged to call home. Happy birthday, America.
Have at it.....
I've always thought Bruce Wayne's alter-ego was a bit goofier than originally intended...
Meanwhile, near Prince Fraftur's castle...
CONRAD THRASH, INTER-GALACTIC BOUNTY HUNTER...
None of the townspeople could quite remember when they last saw a crow....
Peter De Vries (1910 - 1993) was an American novelist known for his outrageous wit and wordplay.
Bindar the XI, spiritual mentor to Third Circle Freign. Known for his pacifist teachings of pre-G*E*R*M*A*I*N* Throon. Exiled to a small moon of Gathalon for harboring Devon Stark during the Korolai Uprising.
A random bit from the ol' sketch book...
When she's not bitch-slapping some security guard in D.C., Georgia's Cynthia McKinney enjoys rollerblading, horseback riding and scouring the streets of Atlanta for the next juicy conspiracy theory.
Thanks for all the energy and interest you guys have shown in fleshing out some of my characters.
If I ever get around to actually creating a graphic novel, I hope you guys are out there, kicking around ideas. As of right now, I'm involved in a few projects and I must admit I don't have the energy to really pursue a full-on attempt at my own Devon Stark book.
So....if you don't mind just writing for the heck of it, with the idea that some day I'll get to work on it, please feel free to submit plot lines or scene ideas. There's no monetary goal I can offer yet, but maybe a healthy romp with your imagination is its own reward.
Your creative energy is amazing. Hope you continue to have a little fun with some of the goofy creations that spring out of my sketch book.
And to Jono....keep rockin'.

More inner workings.
Woody Allen is an obscure (some say funny) movie maker from Manhattan. He is 163 years old and plays the clarinet, for godsakes!
A little fun with my Cheney caricature....
PS...Any ideas out there for any of my past caricatures paired with a well-known book title?
I'm looking to start a dart team.
This was a proposed August 2006 schedule cover for a local dance company.
I GOTTA BE MEEEEE.....I GOOOOOOTA BE MEEEEEEE.
Detective Frank Pound, world-weary crime fighter for The Burg.
More randomness from the pile of "Ideas That Went Nowhere".
ROCKABYE
by Shel Silverstein
Rockabye baby in the treetop
Don't you know a treetop
Is no safe place to rock?
And who put you up there,
And your cradle, too?
Baby, I think someone down here's
Got it in for you.
This was a cover proposal for a local band called Das BoomHair. Featuring Les Thanaverage on pan flute.
Out of the ol' sketch book....
This is a 7" x 7" pastel study for a larger oil-on-canvas piece I'm working on. Don't have a title yet...
Did this waaaaaay back in my experimental days. I actually did this 5-foot piece with a turkey baster. It was inspired by Ralph Steadman's whacky illustrations found in his book, "Scar Strangled Banger".
If anyone cares, her name is Tara Incognito (Thanks Allen!)
A while back, Allen and I were asked to do an illustration celebrating Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" for The Intellectual Activist. After we batted around a few ideas, we decided this was a good way to go. I'm a huge fan of Rand's literary work (though NOT a devout Objectivist) and this project turned out to be quite a challenge. We got a kick out of trying to re-intrepet a fascinating metaphor for individualistic freedom
The patron saint of travel agents and liars...
TABOO
24" x 18" oil on canvas
(NOT AVAILABLE)
Finished this one recently. I was interested in playing with a paradise theme.
More randomness....
William S. Burroughs (1914-1997) gained fame as writer of whacky drug-induced characters careening through delusional environments loaded with sinister forces lurking in festering shadows.
This is an example of a drawing style I was goofing around with a few years ago.
This is a little 9" x 6" work on paper that may turn into a larger canvas piece. No title yet....
The patron saint of bullfighters and barkeeps.
THE FATES OF BAAKAR AND DROLOS WERE SEALED UPON THEIR APPEARANCE BEFORE THE SYNOD OF INQUISITORS. THE ONLY QUESTION LEFT WAS WHICH STAR SYSTEM WOULD ACCEPT THEIR ACID-FLENCED REMAINS...
