Lately, I've been living by the rule that if I wouldn't have them in my home, I'm not watching them on TV anymore. This includes most political commentators, reality show hosts and contestants, and the entire cast of the Grammy Awards.

I'm sure Ed Murrow would comment at length on the 'vast wasteland' TV has become.

That's a very interesting comment John. Do you know the year that Frost said it? What makes it interesting is our now 24-7 source of "over-evaluated" everything that we now see. It seems profound.
Like it.

Judging by some of the "people" depicted on TV today, if they came into my home, I'd shoot 'em.

HEY COWBOY
Somehow, Frost saw into the future. How could he know about the insueing popularity of such banal reality shows?

I'm with DOC AL.
I spend very little time in front of the idjit box any more, & I feel all the better for it.
Shows I occasionally watch (if I wasn't such a tightwad & had TIVO, I'd probably watch more):
Glenn Beck--His melodrama & the occasional nutty tangent aside, he's the sharpest TV media tool in the shed--"just" a high school education, & he's pounding the daylights out of the "Ivy" edumucated "journalists". That's just killing you, huh, Keifums?
Locked and Loaded with R. Lee Ermey. HOORAH!
Occasionally I'll watch other firearms shows, gearhead shows, & parts of some history, science, & nature shows (the ideological Leftist bent of most of them usually prompts me to shut off the set before they're over).
I used to like to watch concerts, but there hasn't been any decent music programming on since the CMT Crossroads that had Los Lonely Boys & Ronnie Milsap on it. Austin City Limits has gone to the dogs.

I don't allow myself to watch much TV - it rots the mind.
I don't watch TV news - I don't want to be misinformed. It's one thing to have biased news, but the networks have gone way beyond bias and have deliberately lied.
I've only watched 1 quarter of the NFL this season.
I do watch auto racing frequently when it's on, but usually while I'm pounding on the laptop.
The only program I watch regularly is "Desperate Housewives" which I find a hoot They really ought to rename the show "Desperate Writers", because the plots get more and more outlandish e.g Susan's ex's will left her part ownership in a strip club.

Have run into R Lee three times now at the local range during shooting competitions. In real life, he's nothing like you see on his show. A real gentleman.
