Terwiliger:

A bit inaccurate, methinks.

Only 1 "Republican" voted for the bill (Cao, LA), & not until Democrats already had 218 votes. His vote was one of political expediency, as he represents a predominantly Democrat district.

The other 219 were Leftists, & I doubt they had to be hypnotized.

At this point, I'm too disgusted to write more.

Bill:

Yep, Terwiliger is right. Though you could certainly reference the stimulus/TarpI/TarpII or even change the elephant to an ass (Never saw the irony in that before). Let's see how they behave in the senate.

Anonymous:

The CONSERVATIVE estimate of the cost of this thing is OVER $3 trillion.

For those of you who are unaware, they slipped a "net neutrality" provision into the "stimulus" as well.

GarandFan:

Here's hoping for a bloodbath in 2010. The rallying cry will be "Can you HEAR US NOW!"

Terwiliger:

“We will not recognize [American Fascism] as it rises. It will wear no black shirts here. It will probably have no marching songs. It will rise out of a congealing of a group of elements that exist here and that are the essential components of Fascism....”

“It will be at first decorous, humane, glowing with homely American sentiment. But a dictatorship cannot remain benevolent. To continue, it must become ruthless. When this stage is reached we shall see that appeal by radio, movies, and government-controlled newspapers to all the worst instincts and emotions of our people. The rough, the violent, the lawless men will come to the surface and into power. This is the terrifying prospect as we move along our present course.”

John T. Flynn, writing in the American Mercury, February 1941

Mauser:

PROPER Net Neutrality is a good thing, It divorces content from the medium it travels over. If I buy 1.5 Kbits/sec from Clearwire, they should supply that, regardless of whether I'm using it to download Sharespeare or Debbie Does Dallas.

Terwiliger:

MAUSER:

Agreed...BUT:

That isn't what Democrats mean when they say "net neutrality". They mean "for every [Conservative, Libertarian, Republican, republican, Jeffersonian, Originalist, Constructionist, etc.] position on the Internet, there has to be an equal amount of opposing [Leftist, Socialist, Radical, Progressive, Communist, etc.] content. If Leftist content is sparse (even if due to lack of demand), Conservative content must be restricted accordingly."

The protection of politically unpopular speech in the public realm--not whatever folks do in the private realm--is what the founders had in mind when they barred Congress from making any laws infringing upon free speech.

Lysander Spooner's "Vices are not Crimes" satisfactorily addresses the issue you raise.

Too much time on my hands:

He said his life’s an open book
Just be careful where you look
Mmm mmm mmm…
Barack Hussein Obama

He said he’d lower unemployment
He’ll keep it under 8 percent
Mmm mmm mmm…
Barack Hussein Obama

He promised full transparency
“Say what? No way! No how! Not me!”
Mmm mmm mmm….
Barack Hussein Obama

Five days to examine every bill
No more arm twisting on Capitol Hill
Mmm mmm mmm…
Barack Hussein Obama

Full debate for every act
Yet another whopper, Barack
Mmm mmm mmm…
Barack Hussein Obama

He won’t increase the deficit
Are you ROTFL yet?
Mmm mmm mmm…
Barack Hussein Obama

No lobbyists in his cabinet
Not one promise honored yet
Mmm mmm mmm…
Barack Hussein Obama

We can’t let the terrorists fry
But hang our soldiers out to dry
Mmm mmm mmm…
Barack Hussein Obama

He promised “change”… a whole big lot
A few nickels & dimes are all we’ve got
Mmm mmm mmm…
Barack Hussein Obama

They’re carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
Gonna make it with anyone anyhow?
Mmm mmm mmm….
Barack Hussein Obama

The point is made, my case I rest
It’s time for a voter competency test
Mmm mmm mmm…
Barack Hussein Obama

Dr. Bob:

Hey!!! That's my watch!!! That blankety-blank Obama stole my watch!

Too much time on my hands:

As I was sitting in the waiting room
A man came up to me & asked me
What the time was that was on my watch
And I said...

Does Barack Obama really know what time it is?
Does Barack Obama really care?
If so I can't imagine why
For all he cares the plebeians can die

And I was walking down the street one day
A homely lady looked at me & said
Mao Tse Tung & Karl Marx weren’t cold dead
And I said…

Does any Lefty really know what time it is?
Does any Lefty really care?
She said “Imagine no possessions… Can you try?”
I thought I heard our founding fathers cry

And I was trying to live my life one day
Being taxed & mobbed by people trying to beat the game
Oh, oh, I just don’t know why NH don’t change their motto
To “Freeload or whine”… And I said…

Does Barack Obama really know what time it is?
Does Barack Obama really care?
I’d like to try to see life through his glass
But my head won’t go that far up my ___

Ain’t no Lefty working…
They just want largesse…
AND I CARE.
