HEY! THERE'S NO CRYING IN CARTOONING!

As you may already have heard, Allen Forkum and I have hung up our spurs over at Cox and Forkum.com. You can read in detail the whys and wherefors of our decision but be assured.....I'm still kickin'. I've got lots to do here and you haven't seen NUTHIN' yet.....

For all of those who have been aware of our work for the last few years, thank you for the encouragement you've so generously given. We've enjoyed the ride.

Okay, so you won't be doing editorial stuff anymore. I can still sit here at your feet and watch you draw, right?

Zeg:

Nooooooooooo, say it isn't so !!

First the Beatles break up and now you guys.

I am not exaggerating when I tell all of those reading this that the only reason that I exist as an editorial cartoonist is because of Allen Forkum & John Cox.

Their inspirational talent , hard work, bravey and intelligence has inspired my very being.

Thanks gentlemen alas mere thanks is not enough. I have written to you bouth before about this so you know where I am coming from. You have set the standard for true & brave social and political commentators. If I ever truly succeed as a political cartoonist in the socialist dominated media and leftist bent country that I love, then it will only be because " I stood on the shoulders of GIANTS".

I am sure I am not the only one to be affected and touched by these two great men and I am sure I will not be the last.

Sincerely
Zeg

Dan Patterson:

In his autobiography "The Brass Ring" Bill Mauldin spins an interesting tale of his work, and of how "Willie and Joe" came to be. I am sure there is a similarly interesting story with Cox and Forkum and we can all look forward to it. In the meantime I will add your site to my regular visits and wish everyone the best.

Mike Tan:

I absolutely enjoy the cartoons - each one is both entertaining and thought-provoking at the same time!

Thank you very much for the pleasure of seeing your works (usually via LGF)!! And best of wishes to you and Allen!!!

Sincerely,

The two of you have done some great work together and your partnership will be missed. That said, I look forward to seeing what new directions you both take. Best wishes for the future!

Bill:

Abbot and Costello, Martin and Louis, Pen and...Ink! Ok I ran out! Too early and not enough coffee!

Good luck to you both. I'll be staying tuned!

GarandFan:

Good luck to both of you and many thanks for your hard work.

I'm still gonna cry.......

snowdog:

Damn. I don't think I've missed a single C&F since I stumbled across it in 2002. Thanks for all the years of funny and often touching cartoons!

Poitiers-Lepanto:

CARTOON ON !

:-)

JayD:

Gee Guys, First I get a notice from a favorite newsletter to say it's gonna be quits, now you too. Was it somethin' I said?
Have enjoyed your art (and it is that) for awhile and now feel quilty for not taking time out sooner to say how very much we appreciate your talent.

Best Wishes and Much Good Fortune to both. And Thank You.

Kukn:

Damned loss for us and any who might have discovered F&C in the future. But it is understandable. All I can say is that the editorials gave me not only extra insight into what was happening, but also gave me strength and hope - knowing there are people around the world who care and see what the right thing to do is.

You leave the stage amidst heartfelt applause and the deafening cry of "Encore!"

Marnee:

I am trying very hard not to cry right now.

Your cartoons have brought me more value than I have the power to communicate.

Love,
Marnee

I think that's baseball, John. I would have guessed there would be no crying in cartooning, too, but today I would be mistaken.

I am thoroughly dumbfounded why your preeminently high quality work hasn't been syndicated or otherwise abundantly lucrative. Allen obviously put a lot of work into his commentary on the blog as well, comprehensively summarizing issues and the factual support for the always entertaining and insightful cartoons.

But I resonate with Allen's call to step away from the sewers of politics. My heart is sad that I will not get the benefit of both CoxAndForkum cartoons and your site, but I am gratefully satisfied with what you both have liberally shared through significant efforts and I'm excited that you are continuing.

May your talents be recognized and rewarded. Best wishes to you both.

Looking forward with appreciation,

Kevin

Emilio:

Thanks for all the laughs...

Emilio:

... and a few tears, I forgot!

Well, there's one reason to read the Innnertubes shot to high heck.

But you'll still do the Fiskie, right?

HEY EVERYONE

I big, sloppy high-five to you guys! It's quite heart-warming to read such lovely messages of goodwill and hope. Our political cartoons tried to represent the best of American patriotism-the will to succeed against our enemies and the honesty to look at domestic problems with a discerning eye. Plus a laugh or two at the expense of some gasbag with a target on his back.

I only hope this site can engender the same generousity you've shown towards my political work at CoxandForkum.com

Thank you so much....

Ott Tooming:

Thank you for all the years of great cartoons and an uncompromising stand for individual liberty. It's sad to see an era ending.

Barry:

Pity.
Your cartoons these passed years were that touch of sanity that brightened my days.

SonOfLiberty:

God bless you guys, and thank you. I've always enjoyed seeing the work you two produced. A blessing on all your future endeavors, gents. I'll certainly be watching this site!

John & Allen:

So long! See you at the gallery...

All the Best,

Jonathan Logan:

I was left with an open-mouthed disbelief when I tuned into C&F and found out you were quitting. I have just one question: Does Detective Kurtz know about this?

*sniffle* ya'll will be missed *sob*

P.S Do us all a favor, tho; Give us the occasional Uncle Sam throttling somebody, OK?

All good things must end. I'm finding that out as I get older. Things I like eventually run out. I can totally understand Allen's comments about not wanting to spend day in and day out in the political sewer. Sometimes I need to just stop reading all the crap once in a while. It's depressing when you think about it too much. I've loved every comic though. Your vision on life is spot on with a majority of Americans, I'd say, even if they fail to notice or admit it. I will truly miss going to Cox & Forkum every day. Keep up the good work here.

Dom Marino:

Thank you. From a former grunt now collecting SS. You and Forkum will be missed as a team.

You put into perspective what a novel could not say. I will miss you and Allen.

I take heart that you shall continue on. One cannot foresee the future. I wish you and yours well.

I will keep a good thought for both of you. Keep the faith, keep low and keep moving.

DomM

Michael Miller:

It's quite a shock to see Uncle Sam taking a bow. I've enjoyed the cartoons for over a year now and it's hard to imagine not seeing them as part of my daily routine anymore. Thank you so much for what you've done.

Shr_Nfr:

May the muse always find you when you need her. May your wits and pencils always be as sharp as they have in the past. Very simply I will miss you guys tremendously. The best of good fortune in all you pursue in the future. Many, many thanks for the perceptive, on target cartoons.

Dave_C:

Thank you very much for the food for thoughts. Both your art and editorials where always a must see for so long.

I'm looking forward to your new projects gentlemen, and thanks again for sharing your art.

I think you redefined political cartooning and transformed it into an art form that broke down geographical barriers and a priori thoughts on many points of view, and made everyone around the globe who is weary about international conflicts and their implication in our daily lives both smile a little and understand our place in life , the world and politics.

Thank you again, and please, do keep up the excellent work!... the both of you :)

kindest regards,

No!!!! This is terrible news. I want to be happy for you in whatever new direction you go but I just can't. I'm gonna miss those cartoons. Yall are fantastic...

lex aver:

You have done great work these years. It was enormous pleasure for me to watch your cartoons and it's sooooooooo sad there won't be any more of them.

Let me wish you good luck in all your present and future endaevours. Rock the boat!

Thanks for all the cartoons of these years, you've always fought against all the bad guys and all the evil in the world.

I'll miss your criticism with all the dictatorships and your support to all people that refuses to live without freedom.

As a tribute I'm compiling my favorite cartoons in my weblog it's written in spanish but the images explains itself. It's my little homage from Spain to the best right wing cartoonists.

Thanks for all the smiles

Jose:

What a stupid decision!
