HEY JOHN
I find this 'toon disturbing. The character to the left looks like an angel wearing a "Dubya" mask with devil horns.
The angel I get...I'm having a hard time determining exactly where cleverness is depicted...is it the horns, "Dubya", both, or what? If it's the horns, does that not connote cleverness with evil? How does "Dubya" square with either cleverness or evil? Is it just a coinkidink that the mask favors "Dubya"?
I'm confusterated...SIGNIFERABLY confusterated.
Good Vauvenargue quotation by the way...he wrote very little, & little of that was memorable.

HEY TERWILIGER
The toon is an attempt to show how "good" can "mess w ith the head" of "evil".
The Bush resemblence is not on purpose.

Mel Brooks, in his voice-over commentary of Spaceballs, reaffirms that he truely believes this piece of dialogue:
"Evil will always triumph, because good is DUMB." -Lord Helmet.
Hopefully, sometimes we're clever...
