nice... on paper? It looks like there's a crosshatch to the paper... or is that an effect you added?

Neat hair, too. Was that done by scraping away oil with the end of the brush or by using a fine brush?

I textured and sealed the paper with gesso. Then put a coat of gloss medium on top of that. Those are the brush strokes you see.

Fine hair strands can be done by running an exacto blade through a wet, darkened area, reavealing the lighter (dry) ground value underneath. Maybe a few strokes with a dry brush to soften the effect, This is a good way to do grassy areas, too.

Very serene, even contemplative. Like the textures. Where'd you pick up the detailed muscleature? Especially in the neck and shoulder area.

I was gonna say that had to be canvass.

I've seen paintings where you can barely even tell the paint strokes, of course they were all portraits, but, WOW, that is something else!!!

Wait, you MIMIC'd the affect of canvas on paper?
