FYI (inspired by GF):
How many of you remember back when Republican states were blue & Democrat states were red?
I'm sure you guys know why they changed it.
The original "colored" election maps here were used to reflect the maps used in Europe--blue indicating right-leaning, red indicating left-leaning.
However, in the early 80s, the lamestream media didn't like how easy it would be to draw the analogy between "Red" & "Socialist" or "Communist", red being the "team colors" of China, the Soviet Union, & the former Nazi party.
They didn't want to leave an easy rhetorical tool available to Republicans. Now they want to use the "red" thing to link Republicans to Nazis (never mind that the Nazis were Socialists).
I'd really dig it if Fox News went back to labeling Republican states blue & Democrat states red (with a little hammer & sickle).
