I thought that was a Martin Mull quote.
On an unrelated note, I was channel surfing just a little while ago--I ran across the Joy Behar Show (GAG) & she was having a stimulating conversation with Ted Danson. This caused a rift in the stupidity/time continuum, & the vacuum caused by the extreme intelligence deficiency in the TV set (it was far worse than it usually is) sucked the remote out of my hand. Fortunately, it bounced off the "news ticker" rolling across the bottom of the screen. I tethered myself to the sofa with a lamp cord & managed to fight my way to the remote & change the channel before I was sucked into the abyss.
Exhausted, I collapsed on the floor. As I came to, I had a vision of a paraphrased Robert Heinlein quote:
“Trying to reason with a Leftist is like trying to teach a pig how to dance: it wastes your time, and it only annoys the pig.”
CNN, what in the world prompted you to give a show to such an opinionated--albeit grossly uninformed--loudmouth?
Apparently, there's a large market & a huge viewership war for "stupidest editorial show on TV". Even Fox has weighed in with the Geraldo Rivera show.

Hey - don't forget about Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, Ed Schultz, and Rachel Maddows - all in the MSNBC sty - whoops, stable.

Luckily, I'm able to 'block' certain stations as I flip through the wasteland that's called television.

What's a television? I don't own one.

A TV is something that broadcasts shows, movies and propaganda whose content is dictated by the "State"!

Oh, I hadn't forgotten. Those folks who take the slightest splinter of an anecdote out of context & warp it into a "paper tiger" or a "straw man" for their own self-righteous pontification--they're certainly worthless as "journalists" go--but from what little I saw of that Behar nag & Danson--they didn't seem to even bother to "research" for an anecdote--I watched maybe 4 or 5 minutes of it, & it was 100% tinfoil hat, moonbat opinion--completely fact & trans-fact free.
GF & BILL:
Since I'm stuck with a TV at my disposal, I sometimes force myself to watch the extreme idiocy of the Left--it's kind of like taking a page out of one of the Obama/Radical/Progressive playbooks--"Keep your friends close, & your enemies closer."
If I had my druthers, there would be no TV in the house; there isn't enough of the ether of life to waste on it. However, the other folks around here insist on being anesthetized by the "plug-in drug".
I tolerate the stupid thing, as being a predominantly INTP type I have to work harder than I'd like at relating with people.
I admit that I do enjoy Glenn Beck, Brit Hume, & the mechanical & gun shows (I caught an R. Lee Ermey show last week on military rifles that I REALLY liked), but I don't schedule my life around them. If I'm in the "TV" room, I'm usually reading (& wearing earplugs). If, when I put my book down, the TV is on & everybody else left the room, I will pick up a remote & flip away before I turn the set off--& sometimes I'll turn the sound off, pick up a guitar & noodle around--& sometimes I'll leave the idiot box on while I'm plinking at a pellet trap.

When we did own a TV, I was banned from watching the news about a week into our marriage. The "state" didn't dictate content yet, but the idiocy of the news services was enough to send my blood pressure and voice levels into something stratospheric.
The only TV event I can remember was Gen Norman Schwartzkopf's press conference just before the invasion of Iraq and Kuwait in Desert Storm. Even then some idiot reporter tried to give the whole thing aways just for a scoop. Doubt he was invited back.

I couldn't have a piece in the same room as the TV. I'd go Presley on it.

For the most part, I've learned to ignore simple idiocy. It is so common, I'd drive myself mad if I were to dwell on it too much.
It's their subversion of America, the Constitution, & their belief that, while mankind is utterly incapable of self-governance, a few of the "elite" Fascisti are capable of governing us all, and the rest of us are to be trusted at choosing who those people are.
Can any of you tell me the exact quote the last part of the previous sentence is from? I know I've read it before, but my searches yield nothing.
