I was recently commissioned to do this illustration for Andrew Ian Dodge's up-coming techno-thriller. This is a follow-up to his previous novel, "And Glory".

Britain Revived? Hmmmm....are they now executing all the dingbats? One could only hope, that's the fastest way to stamp out rampant stupidity.

HEY G
"And Glory" sets up the premise that the near-future is a mess (the digital age goes to hell) and Britain is the last bastion of liberty. You know...science fiction

Fiction indeed.
If Britain executed all the dingbats, they'd be left with who... Margaret Thatcher? I don't think the old girl could fire & reload fast enough--& if she could, the barrel would melt.
Britain's "elite" universities (e.g., Oxford) have become such intellectual cesspools (not unlike the Ivies) outside of technical disciplines--but then again, "elite" fascist colleges haven't primarily been true institutions (meaning places where you learn how to think instead of what to think) since...heck... before Emerson & Thoreau. They're for making political connections & maintaining a network of "elite" fascisti to keep the "common man"--regardless of how intellectually agile he may be--in his place.
When the silicon fries, the country on top is going to be the one with the most primitive arms manufacturing, the most dependable rifle, & the most ammo. AK-47s & nukes dropped from antique aircraft will rule the day.
I'd put my money on a Soviet revival before a British neo-renaissance.
If there's a widespread intellectual renaissance, it won't be in the West (absent a revolution).

It's just when I check the 411 on the real dope about what's going down...
The man with the gun telling me to beware,
Is here--he ain't over there
There's battle lines being drawn
Even though you're right, some nut says you're wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Problem is their heads are up their behinds
Words once spoken by folks taking a stand
Are being shouted at me by the man
Started simple enough, one November day
Now they say if I step out of line they'll take me away
