PUT SOMETHING IN
by Shel Silverstein
Draw a crazy picture,
Write a nutty poem,
Sing a mumble-jumble song,
Whistle through a comb.
Do a loony-goony dance
'Cross the kitchen floor,
Put something silly in the world
That ain't been there before.
Thought I'd try to illustrate to one of my favorite poets. Expect a few more of these.

This is great, John. I live in Jerusalem and teach little kids English, so I have a fondness for Shel Silverstein also -- I'm sure my students will love your accompanying picture.
We frequently take time to be silly; and I think they learn more when we're being silly than than they ever do with serious work.
I have enjoyed the Cox & Forkum site for some time and it frequently makes my day -- this art site adds to the fun.

That man (Silverstein) actually came to my elementary school when I was a little kid. He was awesome...I always enjoyed his illustrations as well as John's.

I'd love to see your take on Odgen Nash.

Nice. Looks like the definition of "madcap".
