GarandFan:

CHOKE THAT CHICKEN! Hopefully Paul Krugman will be next.

Zeroth:

You always have the best lines, G. :)

The Republicans should strike back with an ad pitting Big Bird against all the other childrens shows which aren't on the government teet. The US Government: We pick winners and losers in children's shows, too!

What bothers me is that Romney's criteria is whether Big Bird is worth borrowing from China -- as though Big Bird IS worth compelling taxes from you and me, but not if we have to borrow it from China.

On a related note, Mark Steyn's Sesame Nation reminded me of all the harsh children's stories kids used to get. Even the songs were harsh. Makes me think he might have a point.

Terwiliger:

Take the emphasis off of Big Bird. There are WAY dirtier birds in that cartel. It looks like that woodwright guy films his show in a barn & spends the rest of his budget on speed... and Austin City Limits used to have some good jazz and blues acts... I flipped to that channel this weekend and there's this bunch of goofs with a real spaz as their frontman... "Radiohead"... They could use that act to scare birds away from the windmill farms... My ears still haven't recovered.

I actually like The Woodwright's Shop--just goofin'.

Yo:

The news on Big Bird just leaves me dumbfounded.

Tavis Smiley is on PBS. Does that make Romney a racist? Wait a minute. Obama is the first president who hasn't invited Tavis to the White House since Tavis has been in broadcasting. Does that make Obama a racist?

"Obama is the first president who hasn't invited Tavis to the White House since Tavis has been in broadcasting. Does that make Obama a racist?" No - it makes Tavis an @$$hole (and a major-league one at that).

Dr. Bob:

I find the Obama ad about cutting BigBird is actually funny in a very sad way.

I'm not sure is it possible to find a subject more inconsequential than removing the PBS subsidy.
