GarandFan:

Nailed it! Typical 'worker's paradise'. You know 'pride of ownership'.

Was using "Google Earth" to look at the old neighborhood I grew up in (N. Philly). Everything is grafftied now. It was a well worn, lower middle class neighborhood back in the day. But it was CLEAN. Not now. The nearby below grade railroad cut is still there. No tracks now. And the neighborhood uses it as a landfill for large appliances and furniture.

Dr. Bob:

GF - sounds like it was a goof place to be "from" - as in not living there now.

Cowboy:

There's a lot of urban neighborhoods that have gone to hell in the last 30 years. See it everywhere.

Terwiliger:

The rural areas ain't what they used to be, either.

Woods I used to play in as a kid have been bulldozed for sprawling developments of "kit mansions", mini wannabe-"towns", & pop-up retail centers--& the run-off has washed out the rivers & creeks I used to fish.

Gang stragglers have finally shown up, but there's hardly enough infrastructure to "tag"--& it's out of the way enough that only 'hood locals would see it.

Graffiti everywhere
