Reproducing "Conspicuous Consumption" as a Large Piece

%231CC-both.jpg

TOP: "Conspicuous Consumption" reproduced as a 16" x 11" watercolor and ink on illustration board.

ABOVE: The original 9" x 6" cartoon as it appeared March 4, 2007 at the old Cox & Forkum site and our book, "Black and White Volume IV".

I was commissioned to turn this small cartoon into a rather large "original" for a group of people in Nashville, TN who were involved with revealing the details of Gore's tremendous kilo-watt hour usage back in 2006.

Once I blew up the original drawing to the finished proportions, it was just a matter of capturing the spirit of the ink lines and shading of the smaller one, then using subtle watercolor technique to add pizzazz.

If you happen to be a Cox and Forkum fan and you have a favorite toon you'd like reproduced large and in color, feel free to make contact at my e-mail address (see above). We'll discuss pricing based on the finished size and then I'll get started on creating a real keeper. Turn-around time is two to three days.

Terwiliger:

Awww man... I could go broke in short fashion if I had you do this to all of my favorites (as if the economy isn't getting me there fast enough).

GarandFan:

Just out of curiosity, why isn't the Goracle one of those multi-millionaires pleading to have his taxes raised. Isn't he patriotic?

Cowboy:

I have very little wall space left, but perhaps in the stairwell or hallway. A good John Cox cartoon piece would be a great conversation piece during parties, and cheer me up in the morning. Hmmmm? I'll research the book, although this is a good one.

Cowboy:

GF:

I think since the UN Global Warming conference in Cancun totally broke down this week, reverting to how they can change their message, the Goracle is probably hiding under his desk this week.

John Cox:

Hey Cowboy

You got alot to choose from. Hope to hear there's one you'd like BIG and COLORY

Mauser:

Heh, was that one of mine, or the one time I forwarded a friend's idea?

Of course, if you want REAL art, there's THIS: http://www.moma.org/collection/browse_results.php?object_id=95731

Tom Wms.:

I drove past Carthage, TN last Friday and wondered if maybe Al was living on the old homestead (his parents' place) now that Tipper has expressed her displeasure.

Terwiliger:

Well... If Al really believes that glacial ice melt will cause the Pacific to flood Nevada, that could be his "out" for why he bought an oceanfront mansion on the California coast...

"It's for Tipper." (insert evil smiley here)
