Do not EVER start your story with "It was a dark and stormy night".

Try to have your protagonist quoting poetry during the shoot-outs.

Marketing. The vast majority of the public is functionally illiterate, & it's easier to baffle them with B.S. than dazzle them with brilliance. A good PR person, a catchy title, a good cover jacket, a smattering of obscene words, a few antagonistic proclamations & you're golden (e.g., Michael Moore, Al Franken).

GarandFan:

#4 - "Spell Check" isn't necessarily your fiend."

GarandFan:

#9 - Punctuation is important when conveying meaning.

"Not getting any, better come home soon." Does not convey the same implications as "Not getting any better, come home soon."

If you make the story long enough, it doesn't have to make sense.

GarandFan:

#21 - When the plot is thin, spice it up with gratuitous violence and sex.

GarandFan:

#11 - When the muse escapes you, try copious amounts of your favorite libation.

All mimsy were the borogoves,

Nice touch John, with the RED pencil!

How to write with power:

Write your draft with all the anger, insults and swear words in, then remove the insults and swear words from it for the final copy!

Try it.

One for each State!

Larry the Dial-Up Guy:

They's actually 58 states. Obammy sayed he'd done been to fifty-seb'm states with one to go, an' somebody as clean an' artikulit an' as bright as Obammy cain't be rawng.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It's very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
