Allen Forkum came up with this spoof of Eastwood's "Gran Torino" for the humor column in his paper next month. I was happy to help out.

"Ya feelin lucky, hippies?
Look up and down the streets to what your kind did to Detroit. Now what do you think will stop a widowed retired autoworker with terminal cancer from using you for target practice? "

Terwiliger:

I haven't seen it... but I heard the Eastwood character "assumes room temperature" at the end of this one.

Will the hippies kill us with their good intentions & absence of intellect?

Steve M:

Ha ha!
(The hippies may be right.)
A PERFECT aging Eastwood drawing-love the old-man high-waisted pants!

Thunderbottom:

I was thinking that the "eco-freaks" would want us to go back to the days of the ox-cart, but then I remembered - oxen bad; all that methane flatulence.

Oxen baaaaad.

Power over the peasants, goooooood.

GarandFan:

I'm sure that Al Gore and his friends have OUR best interests at heart.

Hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

Jonathan Logan:

'72 Gran Torino Sport, complete with 400+hp 351 cu in Cleveland 4V under the hood, 9" limited slip diff with 4.10:1 gears in back, C6 tranny with manual shift valve body in between. 1/4 mile ET high 12 sec on pump premium. In the garage. Eco weenies beware...

Also have a 454 big block in the Suburban in the driveway.

No, I don't have, nor do I want, a Prius

Beavis:

Huh-huh. Huh-huh. Jonathan said "tranny". Huh-huh. Huh-huh.

Thunderbottom:

Clint Eastwood (levelling his Garand at the hippies): "Get off my lawn!"

Tom Wms:

Two problems here: 1. Only the upperly mobile in their 50's or 60's can afford a Gran Torino today. 2. Eventually, we are all going to look like that.

Terwiliger:

There were a couple fairly cherry Gran Torinos around here not that long ago. They were Granny Torinos (green with a white vinyl top & baby blue with a black vinyl top), but they were both less than 5 figures. Both were 2-doors, & I think both were bought by "mod squad" guys. It'll be interesting to see what they're like when they resurface.
