I did another fantasy illustration of one of my favorite books. Poignant and bitterly funny, this was published in 1969, so it is rife with "free love" and what a pain in the ass it is.

Most of my favorite books - Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Slouching Towards Bethlehem, and Illuminatus! Trillogy - are where the authors take a step back from the late 1960's radical movement, look at it, and say "wait...are you sure that is such a good idea? Because from where I'm at, it sounds crazy."

Hmmm....reminds me of "The Wall" in Nuremberg....not that I frequented any of those establishments, you understand.

The subject matter isn't one that attracts me... but that cover! On my screen it has a fantastic 3D illusion of physical depth, and I love how the red goes all "candy apple".
Didn't know one could do that through a monitor!

A careful use of drop shadows is a fun optical effect.
