The "father figure" looks like he could be a third Magliozzi (of Car Talk) brother.

Son, I want you to take it slow, don't make any harsh decisions while using it, don't be a show off, and above all else, have a good time.
Oh yea, when you are done, remember to lock up the licquor cabinet.
