At the Museum...

I don't think art is propaganda; it should be something that liberates the soul, provokes the imagination and encourages people to go further. It celebrates humanity instead of manipulating it.

Clever discrepancy there.

Unless of course she's referring to the fact that someone viciously decapitated that poor statue and dismembered his arms (and perhaps more!).

Amen to art that liberates with hope and truth.

GarandFan:

Actually, Kevin, she's looking down, not thru the viewfinder. :o)

I coulda used that quote on Friday night, actually.

20+ feet of marble magnificence is quite stunning at night when the drape drops and the crowds gasp...

Heh. :o) You know, G, the first thing that came to mind was that the camera was misdirected... now you've made perfect sense of it.

That's why I always throw hissy fits whenever people try to convince me that American Idol is "destroying the world"/"our culture." As if one bad TV show can make you stupid, or turn you off of "good" art.

Nice depiction of hypocrisy/false piety.

American Idol (& the mass fascination with it) is more a barometer of the downfall of our "culture" rather than a "tool of [the] destruction [of it]." American "culture" is more pop culture than ever--& generally speaking, it's getting worse at an ever-accelerating pace.

Kukn:

Good quote. Good irony in the drawing.

Cowboy:

Art can be propaganda, but lighten up. The woman obviously hasn't seen a magnificent, sleek, naked man in quite a while, despite is short comings.
