This another attempt at putting the little wooden guy in a naturalistic set-up.

Awesome composition, wonderful mood. Very nice! What can one say? It's just lovely.

GarandFan:

Now that is cool!

John, suggestion, pose the dummy the same way as the woman.

Question? How can you tell it's a "he"? His name wouldn't happen to be Woody, would it? :o)

HEY GARANFAN

Didn't think the repition would work. I think the contrast is more intriguing.

I just got a mannequin. How much has it helped you in your drawing/painting?

Terwiliger:

"Woody" is not what catches my eye here. The darker bottom field makes the upper portion seem illuminated, & that's what jumps out at me--a figure study (albeit a bit faded) of Ms. Ciccone!

I am not a fan of hers at all, but for better or for worse, that picture is indelibly etched in my brain.

Everybody really picked up on the melancholy human-ness of the previous painting.

With this one, I wonder if John is expressing a lament for times when things weren't so FAKE--when we appreciated things for what they naturally were, instead of glitzing everything up like Las Vegas to disguise the empty, monotonous boredom underneath (yet still, those times are gone).

OR--I'm quite full of it & I'm projecting too much of myself into what I see.

HEY TERWILIGER

Good eye! The pose came froman old collection of Madonna photos. That's why I didn't include the face. Some poses are just classic by nature.

Again, my reasons to paint this were rather simple. I just wanted the contrat between a real model and a wooden model to speak about the art process.

AND TONEY...

Not all that much. Sometimes a mannequin is just a mannequin. It's not suppose to represent reality.

zonker:

Add another layer, John. Put an inflatable sheep under the mannequin.

HEY ZONKER

It was wrong then and even more wrong now. BAAAAAAAAAA-D memory.
