Ah, the suspense of an infant. Mommy at night quietly half-dozing with half an eye open awaiting the eventual wake-up cry.
And when the kids get older and ambulatory, the suspense of silence - knowing that often means something ungood is happening like breaking into the kitchen cabinet and playing with powdered sugar like it is snow or giving the kitty a bath.
