Terwiliger:

VERY FUNNY!

Also interesting. Allow me to be tangentially facetious--& apologies for taking things in a dark direction--but I wonder how the a 'toon would go over if it portrayed "Planned Parenthood" with a stand selling aborted fetus Satay.

All I'm saying is that if one sacred cow is violable, then kill 'em all--& note the differences in the ones that rile you & the ones that don't.

T:

I like the idea about killing sacred cows, but since selling fetuses has nothing to do with "planned parenthood", I think it would be better to replace the sign with "improve your health, with stem cell research!"

Steve M:

Nice riff on "Soylent Green".

John Cox:

Hey Steve

I tried sneaking in Charlton Heston, but it was just too weird.

Terwiliger:

MARTIN:

Stem cell research is 100% legal in the United States.

The only restriction has been on compulsory taxpayer-subsidized funding for it. The fact is that the progress that has been made in stem cell research has been made with adult stem cells.

If embryonic/fetal stem cell research held such promise, big pharma would be pouring research money into it. (They aren't.)

To plow taxpayer money into embryonic stem cell research based on the theory that embryonic stem cells "hold great potential" would be tantamount to plowing money into building a time machine based solely on the theory that time travel might be possible.

FWIW, the fetus analogy holds.

Kevin The Zeroth:

Nah, snow cones are just snow! Except for the yellow ones. Those have a wee bit of people in them.

GarandFan:

Amazing the perspective one gets when you alter the point of view.

Cannibals!

Dr. Bob:

Pure genius, John.

Nanook:

Me thought yellow snow had bit of husky wee.

Martin Lundqvist:

T:

FYI, I *know* that stem cell research is legal in the USA (it should continue to be that way IMO), and I am not sure how you came to the conclusion that I am for subsidizing industries?

Of course, stem cell research on fetuses may not be booming right now, but then again, the fetuses nowadays do not share your DNA to 100%, so they're bound to be less than perfect. And because human cloning is *banned* (world-wide), of course Big Pharma isn't going to pour money into it, because what's the point?

I am sure we can have a civilized discussion about this. I am all ears.

Keep focusing on your blog. I love how we can all express our feelings. This is an extremely nice blog here :)

The Culinarian :

I was talking about Soylent Green yesterday. Weird. Great Minds I suppose.

Terwiliger:

M:

I wrote nothing regarding your position on subsidized industry. I was referring to the innumerable idjits in the U.S. who "think" that because there is a ban on taxpayer funding for fetal stem cell research that fetal stem cell research is banned (fungibility is used to easily circumvent taxpayer funding bans as well).

We are in too wide a disagreement to debate this topic on this forum, & this isn't the place for protracted debate anyway. However, I would be interested to read your response to my August 2 post on the July 29 A Look Back, #1 (May 2005) thread.

The last word is yours (actually, it's probably Buy Backlinks' or SEO Marketing Services', but that's beside the point).

I really like the colors here on your blog. did you design this yourself or did you outsource it to a professional?

This is good info! Where else can if ind out more?? Who runs this joint too? Keep up the good work :)

Martin Lundqvist:

T:

If you don't want to discuss the topic here, I will accept that. However, I am not interested in taking the debate to some reclusive place, so I guess we're in a dead-lock.

Time to move on, then...

This is the best blog I've ever seen in my life! I really appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day to share your this with everyone.

Rutager:

Come on, T. Do it. You know you want to. Cowboy? Doc? Doctor? Anybody?

I'll get you guys started.

1) Stem cell research is not the same thing as cloning.
2) BP in the U.S. can export therapies to countries where research is banned.
3) OR are you saying that since there isn't any money it, BP won't invest.
4) I don't see a coherent point. I see a cluster of disjointed opinions.
5) T gave you the last word, but you took a cheap shot instead, and you still haven't addressed his last point. Not very civilized.

Martin Lundqvist:

R:

I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish. You seem to suggest that I do not know the difference between cloning and stem cell therapy.

However, I think that legalizing cloning will do a long way to contributing to the efficacy of stem cell therapy.

To take an example: rifles would be much less effective if they were today still loaded with round lead balls (as in the 1700s), instead of stream-lined cartridges.

The only BP that I know of is British Petroleoum, but something tells me that is not what you're talking about. Care to enlighten me?

Regardless of whatever companies interested, I think legalized cloning will do much to further stem cell therapy for the better.

And no, I am not interested in posting in a reclusive thread from 5 years ago. Either speak here, or I won't answer you - those are my terms.

Rutager:

BP = Big Pharma. Ever hear of an acronym?

The post T and I are referring to is not from five years ago. It is from July of this year. I am wondering (NOT) why you never rebutted T's post.

I am poking holes in your "logic" while you are poking the bear with a stick.

Terwiliger:

RUTAGER:

Let it go, dude. Lengthy screeds turn my crank, but judging from site traffic, they don't do anything to help. If anything, they drive people away.

Would I like to debate Martin? BOY HOWDY!

However, this isn't my site, to do so would be to go against house rules, & I agree with the house rules 100%.

With all of the relevant issues to consider on this particular topic, it's too easy to get derailed. Points are rarely settled in an orderly fashion; if a point ever approaches settlement one side will confound the issue--& I find that most people are more concerned with being right than learning & knowing what IS right.

"Convince a man against his will, he's of the same opinion still." - Samuel Butler, Hudibras

John Cox:

HEY T and Rutager

Take a breath. This here site is just for pleasant meandering. It's just about considering the art and expressing a few entertaining tangents.

Thanks....

Terwiliger:

I will defend the joke in my first post, though.

While "Planned Parenthood" doesn't sell fetuses, when you consolidate the operations of their two major arms & their subsidiaries, their primary line of business is feticide.

Snowflakes being the smallest "cellular component" of a snowman (or snowpeople), it isn't much of a stretch to associate nivicide (the killing of snow [or snowflakes]--the abortion of snowpeople) with feticide.

Now--to force the analogy to comply with reality 100% would be ridiculous, but in this case, there isn't too much of a stretch between cannibalism & convenience, either.

Terwiliger:

HEY JOHN:

I agree completely. That's the point I was trying to make. Sorry my last post was "in transit" before I read yours--otherwise I would have aborted it.

I love your blog.. very nice colors & theme. Did you create this website yourself or did you hire someone to do it for you? Plz reply back as I'm looking to create my own blog and would like to know wheere u got this from. thanks

Wow, awesome blog layout! How long have you been blogging for? you make blogging look easy.

Next time I read through a blogs, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I'm talking about, I am aware it was eventually my choice to read, however I essentially thought you'll have something useful to express. Most I hear is mostly a bunch of whining about something you might fix if you werent too busy looking for consideration.

A helpful discussion may be worth provide feedback. I think that you should publish more on it topic, it'd not really become a taboo question but normally people are not enough to speak on this type of subjects. To the next. Cheers

It can also be an opportunity to earn more money by buying in bulk bags and some of the wholesale cost and can offer the bags to customers in the sale price. Fashion inspired handbags can buy a share of the cost for a fashionable bag and can be found in small shops and vendors end mostly higher.

You actually realize how to bring a difficulty to light and enable it to be vital. More people require to read this and understand this aspect of the story. I cant believe you're not very popular because you positively have the gift.

I did however expertise several technical issues using this website, since I experienced to reload the website many times previous to I could get it to load correctly. I had been wondering if your web host is OK? Not that I am complaining, but slow loading instances times will sometimes affect your placement in google and could damage your quality score if ads and marketing with Adwords. Well I’m adding this RSS to my e-mail and can look out for much more of your respective exciting content. Make sure you update this again soon..

We were so close! It breaks my heart to see them lose and go home. I love you all!

If you're still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you'll know which is right for you.

Sincerely, your post goes to the heart of the issue. Your pellucidity leaves me wanting to understand much more. Allow me to instantly seize your feed to keep up however with your web site. Sounding Out thank you merely my little way of saying bravo for a great resource. Tackle my warmest wishes for your subsequent article.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like 'Mixview' that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of "neighbors" will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune "Social" is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
