I liked this quote because it seems to contradict itself: How does a being who is encouraged to enjoy the privileges of being alive reconcile the insecurity that comes with inevitable change.
I was rather reflective today.

At the risk of producing some psychobabble here:
Perhaps "non-being" is the greatest joy precisely because one is not a static being, but one is actively growing, learning and becoming something more, not just in the physical realm, but in the spiritual as well?

It's basically the Tao version of salvation & Apocatastasis--but rather than achieving salvation & being unified with God, the belief is we are ultimately released from the struggle [of life].
In one you enlighten yourself by knowing nothing, & you achieve nothingness by achieving perfect enlightenment. In the other it's impossible to perfect yourself, & you achieve salvation by surrendering your individuality.
Both strike me as being grossly oversimplified, & I find that I'm more comfortable with the discomfort of a good measure of uncertainty than I am with professing that I'm absolutely certain when I don't know with certainty.
In any event, I find neither to be any more absurd than those who devote large chunks of their lives to promoting their disbelief in any spiritual aspect of life & think this life is all there is. I can think of no greater waste of finite time than to pontificate at length on the finiteness of it--& arguing with or ridiculing those who hold a different view.
IMHO, the most absurd are those who are critical of theism without ever having bothered to objectively study it--but I won't name any names (Bill Maher).

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it'll do even better in those areas, but for now it's a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod's strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
