Automotive Report 'Toon

INKmcnutt-FLOOD.jpg

In June's "Automaotive Report", Allen and I whipped out this toon for Buster Mcnutt's humor column. It's in reference to the wicked flood that hit Nashville, which happens to be the home base for this paper.

Kevin[0]:

Saved by their automotive! :)

Please tell me "Buster Mcnutt" is his given name. Please?

GarandFan:

Sure is. His lawyer works for the firm of Dewey, Cheatham and Howe.

I'm sorry Lord.......

john cox:

HEY KEVIN

"Tis only his "nom de rube"

Dr. Bob:

Is there also a body repair columnist named Denton Fenders?

The shark fins are a nice touch for the Nashville crowd.

Terwiliger:

As soon as the oil slick spreads to there, they'll be fire-breathing sharks.

Interesting how staunch environmentalist fear mongers sit around doing jack s___ when there's an environmental disaster on their watch--& if they keep mooching on the taxpayer dime (they're ready for spendulus stage 3.01, but they don't know what the f___ to do with it--AGAIN), there won't be any more taxpayer dimes to mooch.

Emilio:

In the toon is only missing Ahamdinejad riding an A-bomb...

GarandFan:

"It can't get any worse!"

People who say that should be shot.

'Cause then it does!

Tom Wms.:

Hey guys, for what it's worth: Opry Mills Mall, which replaced Opryland Theme Park and is next to Opryland Hotel, was flooded. A restaurant that featured a huge salt water aquarium was heaavily damaged. The aquarium and most of the fish in it were lost. I say most because it was reported there were live piranas swimming around the mall.

Let's take it a bit further: Unlike Katrina, nothing happened here. I believe there was one case of looting. There were no riots. Nobody complained that the government failed to respond with bottled water and assistance while they were sitting on their rooftops waiting to be rescued. Instead, "neighbors" from different counties (and even some who also lost their homes) came out in droves to help each other. B. O. has not been to Nashville - yet. He sent Janet Napalitano. There have been no allegations that one socioeconomic group received better treatment than the next. I know two couples (friends) who are true inspirations. They lost their homes (completely under water), and yet they are thankful for what they have. They have received a lot of help, but have asked for nothing.

Just thought you should know, becaue I am sure the rest of the world hasn't heard "The Rest of the Story". (Thank you, Paul Harvey.)

GarandFan:

Brave people, stout hearts. But Tom, things were 'different' in the Big Easy. There were people to pander to. As John Kerry would say, "nuance".

Dr. Bob:

It's called character. Nashville has it, New Orleans mostly didn't.

Terwiliger:

While we're on the subject, I'd like to contrast "President" Obama's attitude to Bobby Jindal's proposal to that on the "health care" bill.

About a month ago (give or take), Bobby Jindal proposed dredging a giant sandbar to mitigate some small part of the disaster while waiting for the Obama administration & BP to pull their heads out of their collective a__es. The problem was he needed a Federal permit (which was denied), & Obama is now positing that he had to "carefully weigh the situation & have the 'corpse' of engineers analyze the feasibility of that suggestion, & there were some parts of Jindal's proposal that were problematic."

Let's flash back a few months to the passage of the "health care" bill. Carefully weigh it? HELL NO. They didn't even read it. Analyze the feasibility of any of it? HELL NO. They didn't even read it.

Was there an urgent need to act on the "health care" bill? HELL NO. As a kicker, Tom Perriello is rolling out campaign phone calls where his defense of a vote for a bill he originally opposed is "we had to do something, & this was our only option."

The way I see it, the Gulf oil spill is tantamount to having a house go up in flames. We don't have time to sit around "carefully weighing" [sic] every contingency to determine the optimal solution.

Sometimes you just have to roll up your sleeves, go in with what you have, & do what you can--as with the Gulf situation.

On the other hand, the "health care" bill--which won't go into full effect until 2013, could have used a LITTLE BIT (about 4 years worth) of "careful weighing" & "analysis".

The inconsistency of this administration's "logic" & demagogic rhetoric takes me to a whole new level of p___ed off every day.

Kevin[0]:

"nom de rube"! :) I like that. I'll use it when referring to the pseudonyms of comedyers.

Thanks for the update, Tom.

Deep breaths, T. :)

GarandFan:

Barry better button his lip down in the Big Easy. Wasn't that long ago he was harping about 'the ineffectual response by President Bush'.

He said - REPEATEDLY - "Never again!"

Well, looks like NEVER has arrived as far as ineffectual government assistance.

But rest assured Gov. Jindal, as soon as the proper committees meet and as soon as the proper discussions take place, and as soon as the proper studies are initiated, evalutated, and prioritized, your government will take the appropriate swift action.

Terwiliger:

So much for the top kill!

Well, golf balls & shredded tires didn't work...

Heavy mud didn't work...

Have any of you geniuses considered the fact that viscous materials that are more dense than oil just make the oil come out faster? If dense filler would stop the oil, sea water would have stopped it--but since sea water is more dense than oil (& federal regulations force off-shore drilling at depths in excess of 5000 feet, where the water pressure is in excess of a ton per square inch) & viscous--the oil is going to keep flowing until (1) the well is capped with something massive, (2) the oil flow is brought under control, or (3) the oil runs out.

What's next? Let's try cutting out the middleman, outlawing the ownership of coins, & let's just dump loads of money down the hole...

...that, or baseballs & bowling balls, which are pretty much useless as far as Obama is concerned.

Instead of shooting Fake Louis Vuitton Handbags that are freestanding and mobile, you want to box the style of the time working as Muhammad Ali? Do you like the feeling of being a champion of old-age and anti-modernism? If you’re one of a kind of old school, you’re in for a surprise.

This is a smart weblog. I suggest it. You have so considerably understanding about this matter, and so considerably passion. You also know how to make folks rally behind it, obviously from the responses. Youve obtained a style and design here thats not also flashy, but tends to make a statement as major as what youre declaring. Great job, in truth.

This is a sensible weblog. I necessarily mean it. You have so substantially understanding about this problem, and so much enthusiasm. You also know how to make people rally behind it, clearly from the responses. Youve obtained a structure right here thats not also flashy, but would make a statement as massive as what youre stating. Great work, without a doubt.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like 'Mixview' that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of "neighbors" will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune "Social" is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

whoah this blog is wonderful i love reading your posts. Keep up the good work! You know, lots of people are searching around for this info, you can aid them greatly.

I recommend to you to visit a site on which there is a lot of information on a theme interesting you.
