Sent off the response before I checked your site. Hope all is well with you....guess this means you won't be paying me back the money. "They" probably won't either. I guess "they" weren't doing this as a curious activity and now intend to pay back the moneys expended. My karma could use the kick, so I got that going for me and someone has my address......Damn...Whats funnier: waiting and sending another note or saying I didn't send any money with my response right now?? Or would it add to the humor for all this if I just kept typing a bunch of drivel without regard for all the wasted time reading this....Oh, wait!!! I'm wasting my own time just typing this...Maybe I ought to go back over this and edit it so that it provides some value before I send this out. Nah...that's crazy...just send it off the way it is... thats the best plan. It sure would save me alot of bother.

EEK! I almost sent money when I noticed it was your real address. But something kept asking "Would John Cox really send a blast out to his whole address book asking for that much money?"
I've had a hotmail address since before Micro$oft bought them. Is gmail really better about blocking phishing scams?

I like gmail better than hotmail, but phishing is dependent upon a user trusting someone they shouldn't with their password, which would compromise any email account.
Gmail does let you see your IP history, which can be useful as long as the intruder did not change your password yet. In terms of gmail vs. hotmail response to intruders, they both have mechanisms (alternate e-mail address, and secret question) to reset your password, but I haven't experienced it personally -- maybe john can let us know if Microsoft ever gives him back control of his account.
John_8:08am -- if you really were scammed out of money, you should, at the very least, contact your bank and the company through which you transferred the money (Western Union?) to notify them and possibly stop or refund the transfer. They or you can also contact authorities to monitor the NY Walmart location.
