Book Cover Illustration Idea

IRONHORSE.jpg

This is something I created using my actual illustrations (man and sledge hammer) combined with some Photoshop magic. "Iron Horse" would be a collection of tall tales from the American frontier.

GarandFan:

Has a kind of "Mark VII" appeal to it.

Tom Wms.:

John, I love it. One question: Is the road in the background a road or rail?

By the way, the series would look great as a collectible series of leather bound books.

john cox:

Hey Tom

It's railroad. Out of focus, the ties look solid like a road.

Terwiliger:

The MK VIIs (Cougars, & T-Birds) were the last of the F/L/M's that I liked.

That HAS to be John Henry.

Oh, for the days when they made tools with that much pride & character. I have an old 16# sledge (well, what's left of it--maybe 14 pounds or so) I used with my father as kid. Before he passed away, he thought of replacing it--& the new ones were made with such soft garbage metal he just put a new handle in the old one. Now it's darned near impossible to find replacement handles.

GarandFan:

By Mark VII, this is what came to mind (on seeing the sledgehammer).

Probably dates me now!

Terwiliger:

OOPS!

I think the hammer looks like the insert of the Lincoln MK VII grill & the headlight surrounds (I wonder if FMC had the production company "action logo" in mind when they designed it).

I was 12 or so when that company closed down. We watched very little TV then--I spent as much time as I could outdoors, & when I was inside, I was too restless to just sit & watch--& back then, kids didn't rule the roost. If you watched at all, you watched what your parents were watching.

GarandFan:

"If you watched at all, you watched what your parents were watching."

This will really date me:

"Victory at Sea"
"Milton Berle"
"Jack Benny"
"See it Now"

GarandFan:

Oh, yeah, how could I forget.

"Howdy Doody"

Terwiliger:

My parents watched the 6 o'clock news, Lawrence Welk, Hee Haw, Dean Martin reruns... "variety" stuff. They thought most 70s dramas & sit-coms were too over-the-top (I just LOVE explaining sit-com jokes to my mother now).

I consider that payback for all of the Liberace specials she made me watch as she tried to persuade me to take piano lessons. If she'd have played some Ray Bryant or Art Tatum instead, I'd have been down with it.

Louis Vuitton Handbags:

But the wise woman of average means the time closer to the Discount Replica Handbags. These imitations, as they are sometimes called, can be big business. Besides, how many people really understand the difference between a real designer handbag and a replica handbag?
