“I have accepted a seat in the House of Representatives, and thereby have consented to my own ruin, to your ruin, and to the ruin of our children. I give you this warning that you may prepare your mind for your fate.” – John Adams

They altered that quote a bit for the musical 1776 but I still love it.

John had a tendency to piss people off. Wonder if it was something he said?

Wouldn't it be grand if our current "leadership" could be half as TRANSPARENT?

T, given people like Pelosi, Rangel, Dodd, Waters and Frank; I think they are 'transparent'. Which probably goes a long way to explain the 'lowest approval rating, evah'!

GF
They're transparent to us--republican (To those who are wondering: I used a lower-case "r" on purpose) old-right Conservatives--because we've made the effort to understand what government is & does to us.
However, they aren't transparent to their myrmidons, which are plentiful.
I think of "transparent" as meaning "explicit & making every effort so as not to deceive".
My Leftocrat friends seem to treat politics as their religion. They hang on every word Democrats say, & they're always at the ready to "discuss" (i.e., proselytize) what they think they've heard.
When it comes to politics, I think maybe John Edwards was right--there are two Americas: (1) an "Athens" (a place of reason); & (2) a "Jonestown" (a place of blind, irrational, dogmatic faith).

This made me wonder what happened to Rex. I thought he'd be basking in the afterglow of the ascension of "the chosen one", yet when I checked his web page, it's been wiped clean. Curious. NOT. Suffering from acute buyer's remorse, are we?
