John,
Is it a tattoo? What's the meaning of the mark? I know how to write my first name, Martin, in the Chinese character language. I bought a "chop" (facsimile stamp) of stone when I visited Hong Kong in 1992. You pronounce my name like this: "Maa" "tin". Two signs symbolize my name.

Martin:
Not certain, but I think that the ideogram means, "Beef with Broccoli".

HEY MARTIN & T-BOTTOM
That's the Chinese pictogram for "beauty".

Ironically [IMO] tattoos are ugly marks. Maybe it's because I grew up in the 70s--but I find the majority of women these days to be rather artificial & sterile looking.
“Do you not see that, among human beauties, it is a very beautiful face and not rich ornaments that stop passers-by? … Do you not see beautiful young people diminish their excellence with excessive ornamentation?” – Leonardo da Vinci
“Most works are most beautiful without ornament.” – Walt Whitman
Regardless of my opinion, it's still a cool painting.

I agree with da Vinci. While luscious, dangerous curves and other ornaments may catch my eye, a beautiful, smiling face can stop my in my tracks.

Terwilliger & MikeM:
I agree with you; a "tatt" on a beautiful woman is like mounting a clock in the stomach of the Venus de Milo. It's like these clowns who put "twenties" and all those "pimpmobile" trim articles on a BMW735i.

Angela: You are so right about the "America the beautiful"! I look forward to explore more of the land of opportunity. It is a great melting pot! :)
