They're both swimmers. It's a compare and contrast concept with the addition of trompe l'oeil effects to capture the eye.

It's all just very thin layers of oil paint that LOOKS like stone. A little "sleight of painting brush". The piece is no heavier than an average 2' x2' stretched canvas.
