Actually, eel isn't served raw. It's one of the few fish that I actually like (Unagi I like; Anago not so much). Try it. You might like it.

Maybe the Japanese don't eat raw eel, but there's bound to be one of those East Asian cultures that does. There's been more than one time I was flipping channels and saw one of those "I'll travel the world and eat anything" schmucks eat--well, lets just say that it almost seems like some of those backwards people spend a lot of time sitting around thinking of strange ways to butcher and eat all kinds of critters.
